Shudh™ is a modern version of shankh prakshalana, an Indian purification technique that has been used for over 2,500 years. This technique cleanses the bowel naturally, using only salted water and a series of five yoga exercises.
Instead of chemical action, the body's own reflexes do the work. The Shudh™ process is ideal for healthy men and women who are fit enough to do a little exercise.
Dr. Vijaypal Arya, the developer of Shudh™, tells the story:
The Shudh™ Story
I came to the United States from India in 1986 for advanced training in medicine and gastroenterology. In seventeen years of practice, I have seen amazing improvements in medical technology. Yet every day I am reminded that prevention is more powerful than any treatment, and that the most successful techniques are not always the newest ones.
With this in mind, I began incorporating yoga into my own lifestyle and my medical practice, including an ancient purification technique called shankh prakshalana. Many patients have used this process under my guidance.
So striking are its benefits—in speed, comfort and safety—that I began a research study in 2005 to codify the science of this centuries-old practice. The study has been published in a peer-reviewed journal, and we have set about making the benefits of shankh prakshalana broadly available.
